The Zero Waste Events Project
The Zero Waste Events team has focused on three primary clients this year; Hillel and Ackerman Grand Ballroom, two locations around campus and one the Dance Marathon, an annual event hosted by the Pediatric Aids Coalition. On one side, Clean Consulting’s team is assisting Hillel, a jewish association at UCLA, in making their Shabbat dinner zero waste, as well as helping the Grand Ackerman Ballroom in setting reasonable environmental standards for vendors and individuals looking to reserve the room to comply to. Our team’s suggestions originate from the data collected from waste audits executed at each locations.
On the other side, The Zero Waste Events team has been partnership with UCLA’s student pediatric aids coalition to try and transform their annual Dance Marathon event held in the Pauley Pavilion into a zero waste event. This arises as a challenge for our team, given the popularity and amount of attendees during the 24h long fundraiser, but our members are ready to put in the efforts to improve waste diversion by implementing the right waste stream systems and educating guests on which trash their waste belongs in.
